God, Family, Community
Through the Bible, Fellowship service, worship and missions, we bring God closer to our hearts and closer to the hearts of those around us. From traditional sermons to attending our faith-based community initiatives or events — everything we do is based off of our commitment to spread the teachings of our Lord.
Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church has been actively involved with the greater Charlotte community since 2000. Our ongoing outreach has created a buzz in the media, and we’re really excited to share all of our latest updates with you. Please look over our announcements to catch up on everything that is happening in our church and community.
We see our church not simply as a house of worship with walls, a roof and open doors. Rather, we believe that the church is actually the members and believers that come together to practice God’s word, celebrate his love and extend his gifts.

Rev. Lakeisha D. Mobley is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is the proud mother of two adult sons – DeShawn and Jordan. She is the former Pastor of Kesler Chapel AME Zion Church, located in Wadesboro, NC, and Price Memorial AME Zion Church located in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Prior to Pastoring, Lakeisha served at the Weeping Willow AME Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. Henrico D. White.
On June 6, 2026, Bishop Darryl B. Starnes, Sr., appointed Rev. Lakeisha D. Mobley to the Pastoral Charge of the Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church! This was a historic appointment, as Rev. Lakeisha is the first woman ever appointed to lead this church. It is a prestigious honor, being that this is the oldest Black Church in Charlotte, NC.
Lakeisha is a transparent leader who uses her personal testimony and life story as tools to demonstrate the power of God. She is saved, loves the Lord and is always welcoming opportunities to spread his word. She is passionate about our youth, the underprivileged, and underserved. She spends her free time volunteering to help young people and adults alike to find new ways of better living.
For the past 28 years, Lakeisha has been employed in Corporate America. She is also the Founder and CEO of "ItStartz With Me," a non-profit mentoring movement geared towards helping young girls ages 9-18 make sound decisions, better life choices, build strong self-esteem, and realize their fullest potential.
Lakeisha is also the proud Author of the book "When the Soul Cries" and was formerly Chaplain on the Boards of Mothers of Murdered Offsprings and Team TruBlue, both nonprofit organizations geared towards stopping violence in the Charlotte, North Carolina area.
Lakeisha currently holds a Master of Science in Management and Leadership, and a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resources, both from Montreat College. She holds a Business Analytics Nano Degree, is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Green Belt, Associate Professional in Human Resources, and a SAFe Product Manager Product Owner. Lakeisha is currently enrolled at United Theological Seminary where she is in pursuit of a Master of Divinity degree.
Lakeisha credits all of her accomplishments and achievements to Jesus Christ. Her life is a representation of resilience overcoming obstacles. She is a living testimony of how adversity and challenges build character, strengthen faith and demonstrate the power of God.
Lakeisha's mantra is "All things are possible to those who believe! My life changed for the better the moment I believed what God said about me! There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING too hard for GOD! Just believe"!
